The Alamo

"The Just saw the movie "The Alamo". The promos of the movie looked quite promising but its turned out to be a dud. Its not a bad movie as such but if you compare it to movies such as Glory, Flags of our fathers, Saving private Ryan etc, Braveheart. The idea of war movies is to make people feel the grandness of war, the passionate patriotism, the willingness to sacrifice self for country etc. Above all, it shows emotions to be an absolute raw level, at the edge of human life where there is no pretense & no masks. You are there with nothing else but your life to give & thats the last line of defense. You fight to live or die
Usually in most succesful war movies, there are one or two characters who pull the movie in the right direction. Its their conviction & intensity which lends itself credence to the movie. Why else would you be interested in people from Texas fighting Mexicans in 1835 or similar other examples
This is where the movie falls short. There are a few characters who could have really made this into an epic movie were not given enough emotional strength in their roles. They somehow just remained in the movie without making their screen presence felt. They just came in, did their roles & went away. Nothing to make their role memorable
Disappointing movie
