The Chronicles of Frisco in Rome

Now when you've reached Rome, its time to take out jackets. You realize that pictures do not do justice to this city. Its majestic, beautiful, picteresque - running out of objectives - There's a serenity about Rome in which you get absorbed.

We were travelling in two coaches and were touring the city. Our guide was helpful but garrulous. I decided to give his lessons a skip and in retrospect it was a gud decision. The architecture was painstakingly beautiful. I use the word painstakingly because such intricate carvings and sculpture must have involved an excruciating attention to detail.

People who say it takes a lifetime to explore Rome are hitting the bulls eye. Every building looks beautiful. The roads are cobbled and think thats true for most of Europe. You see these small cars zipping across roads and one is reminded of Jason Bourne's mode of travel in the Bourne Identity. And best part about the traffic- no honking. Cant tell you how peaceful can the lack of honking be - Coming from a place where honking is a pre-requisite by law( exaggeration) to get a driver's license, the silence was welcome break

And boots - I've been to a lot of cold places, the lowest being -4 but have never encountered this phenomenon which is so common throughout Italy and suspect Europe. The high ankled boots make an amazing fashion statement. I was completely smitten by them and obviously the owners of these boots also. Black, Suede, Brown, Blue, Red u name it - they've got it & each looks gorgeous

And smoking - Think smoking was the fav hobby there - Well have to admit that the weather invites you to take life in a less hectic manner, smoke peacefully and enjoy every single puff.

Learnt two Italian words also - Grazie and Si.

In the evening went to visit Trevi Fountain. I'm not much knowledgeable about architecture but feel that this is one field where we have regressed. The feeling is more strengthened when one looks at Roman architecture. You can simply stand and keep looking at the Fountain - the story it tells just through its sculpture - Each of it so sharply cut, the columns spiralling into the structure, the water flowing in a small gush and simple lighting which gives the place a surreal touch. I stood there imagining what life must have been 400 years ago.

Think have fallen in love with Rome - and its not just because of the boots or their owners - its about the place, its lazy charm, its wonderful architecture, its soothing influence on senses

Tommorow the Collaseum and St Peter's Basilica - Gudnight Rome- see you tommorow morning
